cloning = cruelty
Cloning is on the increase,
the time to act is now.
The fight against factory farming is not just about cages, mutilations and crates. Cloning is yet another insidious means of treating animals as ever more profitable ‘units of production’.
We must act now. But we need your help.
Your donation today could help stop this hidden
form of factory farming.
Research shows that cloned animals frequently die from heart failure, respiratory problems, and defective immune systems. Cloning also magnifies the worst selective breeding practices of industrial farming: Animals pushed genetically to unnaturally high yields and rapid growth suffer debilitating physical ailments.
Cloning is likely to be used to produce copies of the highest yielding and fastest growing of these animals, and could escalate factory farming to a new and alarming level.
Polls show that a majority of European consumers do not want cloned meat included in the food chain. Compassion also believes that it is essential for the offspring of clones to be included in the EU’s future policy approach to cloning for food supply.
Compassion has increased the intensity of our lobbying against cloning over the years. But the next 6 months will be crucial. From this month, the European Parliament, Commission and EU Agriculture Ministers will be determining the future of cloning in Europe.
We must concentrate pressure now and for as long as it takes to ensure cloning animals for food is banned. With your support we can lobby Agriculture Ministers and other key figures both in the UK and in Brussels. Your generosity will also enable our representatives to take action in other European countries.
All this takes time and money. This is where you can help. Please make a donation today to help end cruel cloning for food and this unnecessary escalation of factory farming. Thank you.
