Amazing Animals

"Animals are noteworthy and miraculous, not just because they share traits with us, but because they are special and impressive in their own right."

Animals can experience and show emotion

When we say that animals are sentient beings, we mean that what happens to them, matters to them.

How much do we know about life from the animals' point of view: their own needs and wants, and their emotional lives?

Did you know:

  • Hens and chickens have more than 30 different calls, and chicks start communicating with their mother hen while they are still in the egg
  • Sheep can remember their flockmates' faces for up to two years, and cows take turns to babysit
  • Elephants and gorillas have strong family bonds which are crucial to their survival
  • Pigs are intelligent and curious, and they find it easier to use a computer than dogs do!
