About the Awards
“Receiving four more Good Egg Awards in 2009 was a great endorsement of the work being done at unit level and we look forward to having even more units recognised in 2010.”
JANE WAKELING, COMPASS GROUP
UK & IRELAND REGIONAL SOURCING MANAGER
“Profits have been sustained, despite the move to better quality eggs. It’s proof that consumers are still clearly looking for more than just a bargain, continuing to hunt out quality food made with real ingredients.”
JAIME CRESPO, HELLMANN’S, EUROPE
BRAND DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
In 2012 the EU ban on ‘barren’ battery cages will come into force. However, this still allows ‘enriched’ or ‘colony’ cages which still compromise hen welfare. We’re celebrating real leadership by awarding companies who go cage-free by 2012.
The Benefits
Hens in free-range or barn systems lead more natural lives. Consumers see cage-free eggs as higher quality, better tasting, more real and more natural than cage eggs.
Previous winners tell us that winning one of our Good Egg Awards and letting hens out of cages has benefited their bottom line, boosted staff morale and improved brand image and reputation.
We will work with you on joint press and marketing opportunities to make the most out of your award, so that your customers and competitors know you’re sourcing your products more responsibly.
The Awards
Previous awards have taken place at venues like the House of Commons in London, the European Parliament in Brussels and the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Look out for details of our 2010 Good Egg Awards, which will be celebrated at prestigious events in London and Europe.
