REWE Group Austria won a Good Egg Award for going cage-free across its three major chains: Billa supermarkets, Merkur hypermarkets and Penny discount stores. Billa was the first supermarket in Austria to end the sale of caged eggs. Today all of their whole eggs and eggs used in their bakery shops are barn, free-range or organic.
