animals should not be reared in factory farms
Joanna Lumley

“At a time when British consumers have shown their rejection of battery eggs, it is extraordinary that people are seriously considering making our hard-working dairy cows the next victims of factory farming.

"Cows fare so much better when they can go outside to graze in good weather and when they are not bred to produce massive amounts of milk. They are not machines: we are in danger of losing touch with our own humanity if we even consider treating animals in this way. Mega indoor-type dairy farms pose a dreadful threat to animal welfare and to the livelihoods of our hard-working dairy farmers. I trust that common-sense and compassion will triumph and that these proposals will be thrown out.”
