Say NO to GM chicken

News Icon 18/09/2013

I was concerned to see British government minister, David Willetts, launching a new avian research facility at the University of Edinburgh recently. Some of the scientists involved in the newly opened National Avian Research Facility (NARF) are known for their production of genetically modified (GM) chickens.

If this facility will be carrying out more research into the genetic modification of chickens, as media reports suggest, then this could lead to factory farming being put into overdrive, with even greater suffering in prospect for farm animals. Chickens produced using age-old selective breeding are already pushed beyond their physical limits in the quest for more meat and eggs.

It makes it even more important that those concerned for the consequences make their voices heard by supporting Compassion’s Say No to GM Campaign.
