CIWF SET TO HELP OVER 5 MILLION HENS OUT OF CAGES EACH YEAR WITH NEW AWARD SCHEME

The new European Good Egg Awards celebrate leading companies who are committed to sourcing their eggs from hens that have not been confined in cages.

This year the number of hens benefited by the Good Egg Awards has totalled over 5 million, based on an average production of 270 eggs per year per hen in cage-free systems.

Rowen West-Henzell, CIWF Food Policy Officer said: ‘This is truly great news and it’s thanks to our award winners and their more ethical sourcing policies that we can bring a better quality of life to such a large number of laying hens.'
