2008 Award Winners - City Hall

UK

Eggs per year: not supplied
Hens per year: not supplied

The heart of the Greater London Assembly, the City Hall has won a Good Egg Award for going free-range on its staff catering. In January 2008 Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London was presented with a Good Egg Award by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall on behalf of Compassion in World Farming.

"In City Hall all of the poultry and eggs supplied through our catering contractor are free range and do not come from caged poultry. LFEPA (fire authority) is due to renew its catering contract in October of this year and intends to include a requirement for eggs and poultry to be free range. I would be happy to suggest that other members of the group [Greater London Authority] take a similar approach as their catering contracts come up for renewal."
Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London
