The famous luxury Hôtel Negresco has decided through the Good Egg Awards to switch to cage-free eggs. Built in 1912, overlooking the famous Bay of Angels in Nice, and classified a National Historic Monument in 1974, the Hôtel Negresco is one of the few remaining privately owned palaces still existing in the world. Its restaurants include Michelin Guide award winning The Chantecler, regarded as one of the best restaurants in Nice. For the Hôtel Negresco moving to cage-free eggs is a matter of animal welfare as well as sourcing the highest quality produce.
"With this decision, we hope to make an end to the suffering of thousands of caged hens, who are submitted to permanent stress, night and day, during their entire lives. We hope that our initiative will be followed by others in high places within French gastronomy."
