UK

152,000 eggs per year
600 hens per year

Allegra McEvedy accepts the Good Egg Award for LeonLeon is famous in London for healthy, ethically-sourced, seasonal cooking delivered with speed. Since opening in 2004 and winning the Best New Restaurant award from Observer Food Monthly in 2005, Leon has opened ten restaurants in London. It is owned by business consultant John Vincent, Henry Dimbleby and Allegra McEvedy who has worked at the River Cafe, amongst other places. Leon uses only free-range eggs and chicken meat in its restaurants.

"Everybody at Leon is so chuffed to bits about having won this award; using free-range eggs has always been a no-brainer for us both in terms of flavour and the quality of the birds' lives. For people who care about this compelling partnership (flavour and ethics) free-range eggs are a given, and we are extremely proud to be a part of this initiative."
