Paul Ugo, Managing Director: 'At Ugo we have been using cage-free eggs for 3 years, sourcing our eggs from one of the biggest egg suppliers in the UK. The welfare facilities in which the birds are kept have been audited by our technical team to ensure they conform to the required industry standards for non-caged eggs. We maintain a close relationship with our supplier and ensure that we obtain the appropriate conformance certificates to accompany each delivery of egg.

'The eggs which we buy are free-range whole egg and organic whole egg, which of course are cage-free by definition. Having recently come fifth in the small best companies to work for (The Sunday Times), scoring highly for staff motivation and environmental actions, Ugo Foods also hold strong beliefs when it comes to the ethical policies of our suppliers and the ingredients we use. We therefore wholeheartedly support the move to remove caged eggs by 2012  knowing that our free-range status is one of the main reasons for our quality and welfare focused customer portfolio.'
