Battery ban under threat
ACTION NOW CLOSED
Thank you to everyone for contacting Jim Fitzpatrick MPs, asking him to oppose a postponement to the battery cage ban at the EU Agriculture Council meeting 22 February 2010.
Earlier this year, the Polish government proposed to postpone the EU battery cage ban – due to come into force in 2012. A postponement to the ban would allow Member States to continue keeping hens in conventional battery cages. These barren cages present serious animal welfare problems and prevent hens from carrying out their natural behaviours, such as dust-bathing and perching.
Compassion in World Farming believes the battery cage ban should come into force – as planned – in 2012.
