Pig Investigation: Denmark

Danish pig farm, 2009
Visiting a total of 14 farms across Denmark, Compassion in World Farming’s investigations team documented each stage of the intensive pig production process of one of Europe’s major national players in this industry.
Our investigation found:
- Pregnant sows confined in stalls
- Sows and their piglets kept in farrowing crates and unable to engage in their natural behaviour
- Barren, crowded pens.
Watch our investigation film exposing conditions inside the intensive Danish Pig Industry:
- In 100% of Danish farms visited, a significant number of tail docked pigs were present
- In 67% of Danish farms visited, there was either no or ineffective environmental enrichment.
