Professor Peter Singer AC

Peter Singer is the Ira W. DeCamp Professor of Bioethics at Princeton University, and a Laureate Professor at the Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics at the University of Melbourne. He approaches applied ethics from a secular, preference utilitarian perspective. His book, Animal Liberation (1975), was a milestone in animal rights/liberation theory. In June 2012 he was named a Companion of the Order of Australia for his services to philosophy and bioethics.
