Professor Mark Berkson

Mark is Professor and Chair in the Department of Religion at Hamline University. He specialises in the religions of East and South Asia, Islam, and comparative religion. He teaches a seminar: “Resources or Relatives: The Ethical Status of Non-Human Animals.”  Mark received his Ph.D. from Stanford University.  His DVD lecture series, “Cultivating Literacy for Religion,” was part of the Great Courses series.  His next Great Courses project, “Death, Immortality and the Afterlife in the World’s Religions” will be released in late 2015.
