Professor Maureen E. Raymo

Maureen E. Raymo is a pioneer in the study of climate change over Earth’s history and is the first woman to lead the world-renowned Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University.  Raymo was also the first woman to win the Wollaston Medal, the highest award of the Geological Society of London, and her research illuminates how climate change will impact future sea level and ice sheet stability.  A passionate advocate for conservation, she founded  HoldTheBeef.org, a student-led project investigating the impact of beef consumption on the environment.
