Katie Hinde
Katie Hinde - Policy Officer UK

Katie joined Compassion in 2022 after graduating with an MSc in Food Policy from City, University of London where she received a distinction for her research mapping policy coherence between UK agricultural and environmental policy and the production of ‘less and better’ meat in the UK. Prior to this, Katie graduated with an MA in International Relations from the University of Edinburgh, where she focused her studies on the role of power, gender and environmental politics in shaping global food politics.
In between her degrees, she worked as a project officer for School Food Matters, where she gained skills in delivering effective policy interventions and campaigning for nutritious and sustainable school meals.
In her role, Katie assists our UK Senior Policy Manager in engaging with policy makers and other NGOs. She works to ensure positive changes in farm animal welfare are translated in effective policies and legislation, whilst capitalising on political momentum across issues of the food system to prioritise conversations around factory farming and its impacts.
Katie is media trained and has been interviewed by many regional UK radio outlets including Heart FM and BBC Radio Cumbria. She also regularly appears on video content for our social channels.
