Is Compassion in World Farming a registered charity?

Yes.

Compassion in World Farming previously operated as Compassion in World Farming Trust and Compassion in World Farming Ltd. The Trust was able to raise funds as a charity and focused on education and research, both ‘charitable actions’; whereas the ‘Limited’ carried out the campaigning and lobbying activities.

As of August 2006, campaigning was made a charitable action under the Charity Commission guidelines. Therefore, Compassion in World Farming Trust and Compassion in World Farming Ltd are now under the same umbrella of, simply, Compassion in World Farming, which is a UK-registered charity.

We have therefore not needed to sacrifice any element of our work and are still able to campaign for changes in the law and inspire new laws altogether, in order to protect the welfare of farm animals. Our registered charity number is 1095050.
