How can I help?
There are a number of ways that you can help egg-laying hens.
Top 3 ways to help
- Only buy cage-free: organic, free-range or barn eggs. All EU eggs have to be labelled for identification
- Check the contents of food containing eggs to make sure they are cage-free
- Ask your local supermarket to stock only cage-free eggs. Some have already opted to go 'cage-free.' If yours hasn't, ask them why.
What else can be done?
- Join Compassion in World Farming with a monthly gift or donation to support our work
- Take part in our online campaign to help egg laying hens
- Download the Good Food Shopping Guide
- Encourage friends and family to buy cage-free eggs
- Support retailers and food companies that have already gone 'cage-free' or have been awarded a Compassion in World Farming Good Egg Award.
- Contact your MP and your local paper, radio and TV station to explain why hens suffer in cages and how free-range farms give hens a better quality of life
