Bake With Compassion
Our free range fundraising month, Bake with Compassion, returned for its fifth year in October 2013. Our Compassionate Bakers from all around the UK got involved and made this a free-range month to remember!
This year Bake with Compassion supported the Labelling Matters campaign, and it’s been wonderful to hear about all the different events hosted by our supporters. If you haven’t had a chance to take part in Bake with Compassion yet then it’s not too late to register and hold your own higher-welfare or vegan cake sale, dinner party or bake-off!
The idea is simple: bake with higher welfare produce such as free-range eggs and organic dairy, or even with vegan ingredients, and then hold your very own cake sale, dinner party or bake-off!
Click here to register and receive your free fundraising toolkit. It includes lots of ideas on how to get started, plus a special celebrity recipe book with delicious ideas for baking. We can send this toolkit to you in the post or you can download it after registering. Alternatively, contact the Supporter Engagement Team for ways to get Baking.
Packaging does not always make it clear where food has come from. At Compassion we believe that consumers have the right to know what they are eating, which is why this year we are linking up with our Labelling Matters campaign and encouraging all of our bakers to inspect labels to ensure that the ingredients they bake with are higher-welfare.
It is already a legal requirement for eggs to be labelled to show where they came from, and we think this should be the case for all meat and dairy products too. Even if you don’t eat animal products yourself, Bake with Compassion is a great opportunity to raise awareness with your friends and family of the importance of clear labelling.
It’s always fun baking cakes and better for animals when you use free-range eggs or organic dairy.
Bake with Compassion is a great opportunity to tell your friends and family about high welfare farming and taking part couldn’t be easier. Whether you bake a single cake to sell or organise an entire community bake-off, all funds you raise will be used to improve the lives of farm animals.
So please sign up for Bake with Compassion – Indulge in some cake and help the animals at the same time, what could be better!”
