Stop Factory Farming

Joanna Lumley with friend

What noise does a piglet make when its teeth are cut off with pliers without anaesthetic?

Today, billions of animals are suffering unnecessary pain as a result of intensive factory farming. Our undercover investigations have exposed the cruel conditions in which many of Europe’s pigs are reared and recent TV programmes have helped us highlight the hidden cruelty of factory farming.

We understand that some people may find the truth upsetting and some of our footage and images are shocking to witness - but we believe that people do need to understand the true cost of their food and be given a choice to buy more ethically.

Around 1.4 billion pigs are slaughtered annually for meat worldwide. It’s a sad reality that pigs reared for meat are often kept in barren, crowded conditions on solid concrete or slatted floors, without straw for bedding or rooting.

WARNING:
This video shows scenes of animal cruelty and tooth clipping filmed undercover in intensive factory farms

Many of these animals have no access to outdoors and will never experience fresh air or daylight. They are unable to behave naturally and are likely to be bored and frustrated. In many intensive systems, piglets are subjected to a number of painful mutilations, including tail docking and tooth cutting. We believe that this cruelty is unnecessary and unacceptable.

FARMING DOESN’T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY – BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP TO CHANGE IT

Compassion in World Farming campaigns peacefully to end all cruel factory farming practices. We believe that the biggest cause of cruelty on the planet deserves a focused, specialised approach – so we only work on farm animal welfare.

Please support us with a donation so that we can take our campaign to more shoppers and retailers – we believe that people need to understand the truth about intensive farming and its impact on the lives of so many animals.

We receive no government funding so rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters to prevent cruelty to farm animals all over the world. Thank you.
