Welcome to Compassion in World Farming, the only charity exclusively dedicated to the welfare of farm animals. We campaign peacefully to end all cruel factory farming practices. We are working with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's Chicken Out! campaign to bring chicken welfare issues to a much larger audience. We believe that farm animals should not and need not suffer.

Every year, around 50 billion chickens are reared, mostly en masse in windowless, barren and overcrowded sheds. Bred to grow at an unnatural rate, their legs struggle to support their weight and lameness and heart failure are common. Farming doesn’t have to be this way – but we need your help to change it.
