Enough Food For Everyone IF

News Section Icon Published 23/01/2013

Compassion has joined a new campaign targeting world leaders in the battle against world hunger.

The Enough Food for Everyone IF campaign pushes for fairer and better rules around aid, tax, land and transparency from governments and big corporations.

Two million children die each year from malnutrition and hunger kills more people than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.

The world produces enough food for everyone, but not everyone has enough food.

We have added our voice to the campaign because factory farming is actually a contributor to world hunger. If we grew food for people, not intensively farmed animals, and if humane-sustainable farming was the norm, not factory farming, then fewer people would go hungry.

We're taking high-quality, nutrient-rich foods that people could eat and feeding them to our farm animals.

When?

This June, the UK hosts the leaders of the world's richest nations at the G8 Summit.

A hunger summit will take place just beforehand. At this critical moment, the world will be watching and the IF campaign aims to seize that moment: we must urge world leaders to tackle the food crisis in the right way.

Who?

We can end hunger if we make enough noise to persuade our governments to act at this crucial time.
