Today (14th July) we’ve announced a game-changing international conference providing a platform for experts across the globe to share solutions on global food system transformation.

Organised with IPES-Food, Birdlife International and other partners, the Extinction or Regeneration conference will offer individuals, organisations, companies and other experts the opportunity to present solutions for transforming our global food and farming systems for better human, animal and planetary health.

Hosted as a hybrid meeting – at the QEII Conference Centre in London and online, on 11th and 12th May 2023 – this major international conference will include plenary sessions with inspirational speakers, roundtable discussions, networking and facilitated action workshops to catalyse collaboration and change.

Building momentum behind solutions

Bringing together diverse interests – including environment, public health, food business, food policy, conservation, finance and animal welfare – the programme will enable attendees to explore, share, and build momentum behind existing and new solutions. From lobbying for change in the worlds of global politics and finance to demonstrating efficient and nature-positive solutions… all methods for transformation are on the table.

The event has been organised as an unprecedented opportunity for the disruptors of food-as-usual to share knowledge and insights on how these and other key issues can be tackled.

Accelerating emergencies

Our Global CEO, Philip Lymbery, who will be a key-note speaker at the event, said: “In this age of hunger and accelerating climate and biodiversity emergencies, radical reform of the global food system is urgently needed.

“That’s why we are delighted to partner with IPES-Food, Birdlife International and other influential international organisations to bring you this unprecedented event which will give experts all over the world the opportunity to share their solutions to fix our broken food system.”

The event follows the successful Extinction and Livestock Conference which took place in October 2017 in London. This seminal event, organised by Compassion in World Farming in partnership with WWF (UK), BirdLife International, the European Environment Bureau, and other partners, examined how livestock production and its use of finite resources were devastating biodiversity and pushing wildlife to the brink of extinction. It brought together 540 delegates from over 30 countries.

Registration for the event will open in September 2022. Read more about the Extinction or Regeneration conference at the dedicated event website.
