26/05/2015

The Milan Charter is designed to be the legacy of EXPO 2015.  It helpfully identifies the major challenges related to food as “combating undernutrition, malnutrition and waste” and “feeding a constantly growing population without harming the environment”.  This paper from Compassion in World Farming examines how these challenges can be met. It argues that we need to develop a new model of food and faming that provides healthy, nutritious food for all, while protecting the environment, reducing food waste, achieving good standards of animal welfare and enhancing the livelihoods of small-scale farmers in the developing world
